Eastern Illinois men’s tennis opened its 2024 spring season on Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 loss to Ball State.

The Cardinals won the doubles point picking up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.   The No. 1 doubles match featuring Tyler Carlin and Cameron Slabbert was left unfinished with EIU trailing 5-4 after Ball State locked up the point.

In singles play Ball State was able to win all six singles matches in two sets.

Pau Riera played at No. 1 singles for EIU losing in two sets to Nathanial Webster falling 6-2, 7-6.

Thomas Wallace battled at No. 4 singles before falling 6-3, 6-4 to Eli Herran.

Slabbert playing at No. 2 singles lost 6-2, 6-4 while Jon William Karlstad lost at No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-4.

EIU plays at Ohio State on Sunday morning wrapping up its weekend road trip.
