OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss men’s tennis is set to welcome a newcomer to Oxford in January as Brice Patoux has signed his National Letter of Intent, head coach Toby Hansson announced on Thursday.
“We are excited to have Brice join us this spring,” head coach Toby Hansson said. “Brice is a fantastic young man and will fit in really well with our team. He is a great competitor and will have an immediate impact in both singles and doubles.”
The Rouen, Seine Maritime, France, native was a dominant force throughout his juniors’ career, racking up an impressive 13-10 record in singles across nine ITF Grade 5 tournaments. In the J5 Honfleur tournament, Patoux advanced all the way to the semi-finals, beating out many top-rated players, including Andres Delgadillo, who garners an ITF career-high ranking of 227.
Patoux’s ITF World Tennis Tour career is highlighted by five wins in four tournaments across France. His biggest professional win comes from a straight set 6-4, 6-2 victory at the M15 Bressuire tournament against Adan Freire Da Silva, who has ranked as high as No. 3 in the ITF rankings.
Patoux becomes the first French recruit to sign with the Rebels under Hansson after playing for the USC Bois Guillaume club team.
“I chose Ole Miss because the campus looks very pretty, and the atmosphere is unique,” Patoux said. “Coming to Ole Miss, I want to continue to be able to progress in tennis to the maximum and maybe play the tour.”
