Men’s Tennis signs prep standout Burnett – University of Texas Athletics

Austin – University of Texas Men’s Tennis has signed prep standout Evan Burnett to an Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA), head coach Bruce Berque announced Wednesday. Burnett will enroll and join the program this January.

“Evan really clicked with our team on his official visit, and he made an outstanding impression on everyone who touches our program,” Berque said. “He has made some big jumps with his game in the last three months, and we’re excited about the path he’s on. We’re expecting Evan to redshirt next semester, and then do some great things in the coming years. We’re looking forward to being part of his journey.”

“I chose Texas because I felt like it was the place where I would improve the most and unlock my full potential,” Burnett said. “I had an amazing visit and knew that it was the school for me right when I stepped on campus. I also wanted to be a part of an amazing program and compete for national championships each and every year, and Texas is the place to do that.”

A native of Woodside, Calif., Burnett is a five-star prospect who has been rated as high as No. 42 nationally by TennisRecruiting.net, while ranking as a top-15 player in the state of California. He helped Menlo School to Central Coast Section and Northern California championships in 2022. He was also a member of the Northern California team that won the 2022 USTA Battle of the Sections and was named the San Mateo Daily Journal’s Boys’ Player of the Year. Additionally, he was tabbed to the All-USA Today HSSA team.
