Men’s Tennis Sweeps Rice, 4-0, In Final Match At ITA Kickoff Weekend

FORTH WORTH – The Princeton University men’s tennis team wrapped up play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kickoff Weekend at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center with a 4-0 sweep of Rice Sunday afternoon.

“It was a good bounce back today against a very good Rice squad,” said Head Coach Billy Pate. “We did a better job today of managing the momentum and capitalizing on opportunities. It was a deceptive 4-0 score as we were in a battle on all courts and Rice challenged us. I like the way we responded and finished strong. We’ll look forward to being at home next weekend and we’ll get a full week of practice in before next Sunday’s double header.”

Princeton won the doubles point, with the duo of Landon Ardila and Paul Inchauspe taking down Santiago Navarro and Yasha Zemel, 6-3, at No. 1. At No. 2, Sebastian Sec and Ellis Short triumphed over Trinity Grear and Kabeer Kapasi, 6-4.

In singles, Ardila first defeated Navarro at No. 5, 6-2, 6-4, before Sec earned a 6-4, 6-2, victory over Ar de la Bassetiere at No. 3. Fnu Nidunjianzan clinched the match for the Tigers at No. 2 when prevailed over Grear, 7-6, 6-4.
