CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Xavier men’s tennis picked up a 4-3 road win at Northern Kentucky on Saturday afternoon at Five Seasons Sports Club.

Next up, the Musketeers host Cleveland State on Saturday, Feb. 3, set for a 5 PM start at Eastern Hills.

The Match

In doubles play, NKU took the first decision, taking a 6-3 win on the No. 1 court against Ryan Cahill and Pascal Mosberger. Xavier picked up a win on No. 2 doubles, with Charlie Temming and Cristian Gonzalez combining for the 6-3 victory. On No. 3 doubles, Kyle Totorica and Jorge Santamaria came back from 5-2 deficit to take the 7-5 win and the doubles point for Xavier.

In singles play, Xavier went ahead 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-1 win for Ryan Cahill on the No. 2 court. The Norse picked up wins on the No. 5 court, 6-3, 6-4 against Kyle Totorica, and on the No. 3 court, 7-5, 6-1, against Charlie Temming to tie the match at 2-2.

Marco Pennelli picked up a 6-1, 7-6 (5) win on No. 4 singles, and Pascal Mosberger fell 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 on the No. 1 court to tie the match at 1-1 with one court still playing.

On the final court, Cristian Gonzalez picked up a come-back win No. 6 singles, taking the point 4-6, 7-5, 6-4, to clinch the match for the Musketeers at 4-3.
