NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — FOX 17 News spoke with a mental health expert who examined the three leaked images from the Covenant School shooter’s writings that ended up online Monday.
Mental health expert, Dr. Vince Callahan, has not examined the shooter, but is going off solely what he sees in these images.

He explains the most alarming part of these notes are the fact that death excites this person.
Dr. Callahan is based in Florida and has been working as a professional counselor in mental health and neuro psychology for more than 30 years.
“What does this tell you about the covenant school shooter?” asked FOX 17 News’ Kaitlin Miller.
“Well first of all, it tells me they should have been on an in-patient ward because they have homicidal ideation. They are thinking about it, and they have a plan to do it,” said Dr. Callahan.
Dr. Callahan adds this person was very methodical, anxious and didn’t fit in.
“I see somebody that’s very envious about a particular type of group of people and their need to be accepted and their need to fit in, exceeds their rationality of ‘I’m going to kill people to get known,’” said Dr. Callahan.

He explains this person’s irrational thought process filled the void of what they needed and never had, so Dr. Callahan classifies the shooter as a sociopath.
FOX 17 News wants to be clear Dr. Callahan never examined the shooter but is going off solely the words written in the three leaked documents.
“There should have been warning signs of the major depression she’s going through, the anxiety, the not fitting in, the identity issues, the anger issues. None of those happen in a vacuum,” said Dr. Callahan.
He’s hoping people can learn something from this and encourage people to pay closer attention to those around them.
Metro Police are investigating this leak.
