LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — “Hey, what’s up? Kelly Clarkson here…”
The introduction is part of a movement created of celebrities, artists, songwriters, and business leaders putting their star power behind the #NotAloneChallenge.
Its heart is at the Inspiring Children Foundation in Las Vegas. The singer Jewel helping to make this dream a reality.
“We’re giving tools to those who really need it, making sure it’s in the hands of those who really want resources. (We’re) really proud to be a Nevada, Las Vegas foundation,” she says in a recorded message given to News 3 via Ryan Wolfington, co-creator of the foundation.
He shows us the group’s office at Lorenzi Park, which features a kitchen where youth can learn about nutrition and healthy eating habits, tennis trophies won through their elite tennis program, and a meeting space where they can collaborate, learn to be entrepreneurs, and share their inspiring stories online. Essentially, they’re building their community.
“A lot of children think I’m stupid, no one likes me, and when you’re able to share with people your age, ‘Wait, it’s not just me.’ You’re not alone,” he says, reflecting on why youth find success within their nonprofit.
Through the online challenge, you’ll find a guide reminding us to write, move, rest, and ask for help. It’s an action plan designed to lead people to their strongest selves.
“I think post-COVID people realized mental health isn’t just for people who are depressed. It’s for everybody because we’re all an inch away from suffering, and life is about how do we handle difficult situations, and if you learn to strengthen your emotional mental wellbeing, it’s just as important as your physical wellbeing,” says Wolfington.
