The Mercer County Community College (MCCC) Fashion Merchandising and Design Program is set to present a series of workshops as part of the 2023 Fall Fashion Fest on November 4. The event will take place at MCCC’s James Kerney Campus in the city.
The Fall Fashion Fest, organized by the MCCC Fashion Merchandising and Design Program and the college fashion club, The Fashion Spot, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Trenton Hall, located at 137 North Broad Street in Trenton on MCCC’s James Kerney Campus. The program includes a range of fashion-related sessions, covering topics from creative aspects like color theory, style, and accessorizing to practical workshops on quick repairs, jewelry making, and knitting. Additionally, there will be sessions focusing on leadership, including advice on dressing for success and the art of the “power pitch.”
Katina “Professor Kay” Lindsay, MCCC Fashion Merchandising and Design Program Coordinator, emphasized that Fall Fashion Fest is designed as an engaging and interactive experience for individuals interested in fashion, including middle school and high school students, as well as community members. The event aims to introduce prospective students to the world of fashion and highlight the various opportunities within the industry. Lindsay described the three-hour event as offering informative workshops, immersive experiences, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the MCCC fashion program.
“Our responsibility isn’t just to prepare the next generation for the workplace; it’s to actively engage in shaping a workplace that is more inclusive, innovative, and supportive,” Lindsay said in a press release. “We do this one stitch at a time, leaving no one behind.”
