Meta Closes Facebook Watch’s Group, Canceling Jada Pinkett Smith’s Show

Meta canceled Jada Pinkett Smith’s famous show, Red Table Talk, on Wednesday. This is bad news for her.

Variety says that the talk show, which was mostly hosted by Jada Pinkett, Willow Smith, and Jada’s mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, was dropped because Meta stopped making original programs for Facebook Watch.

In addition to Steve on Watch with Steve Harvey and Piece of Mind with Taraji with Taraji P. Henson, Red Table Talk, which launched on May 7, 2018, was the final Facebook Watch Original.

According to a story from Deadline, Meta has shut down the Facebook Watch originals group as part of a plan to cut costs and lay off workers.

The series’ discontinuation follows the departure of Mina Lefevre, head of development and programming for Facebook Watch, in the most recent wave of layoffs at Meta, where she had been employed.

The story also said that the show’s creator, Westbrook, is looking for other places to stream the show.

Red Table Talk talked about many different things. Jada’s talk with her husband, Will Smith, in which he talked about the controversial Oscar-slap, was one of the most watched shows of the show.

In December, the episode of A Different World where the group got back together also got a lot of attention on the internet.
