On December 8, the 47th Annual Kennedy Center Honors took place in Washington. D.C. The Grateful Dead, Francis Ford Coppola, Bonnie Raitt, Arturo Sandoval and the Apollo Theater all received recognition for their “impact on the rich tapestry of American life and culture through the performing arts.” The event will air this evening from 8:30-11:00 p.m., ET/PT on the CBS Television Network and Paramount+.

Meyer Sound has taken an active role in supporting both the Dead and Coppola over the years. The company has issued a congratulatory statement for these artists: “As the Grateful Dead and Francis Ford Coppola are celebrated at the 2024 Kennedy Center Honors and beyond, Meyer Sound proudly reflects on its decades of collaboration with these icons of creativity and innovation. The Grateful Dead and Coppola have left indelible marks on culture, and their work with Meyer Sound has helped shape their artistic visions in ways that continue to resonate.”

To mark the occasion, Meyer Sound also has released a video that documents its work on behalf of both honorees. This video, which can be viewed at the Meyer website, incorporates both archival images and videos, along with recent interviews.

Our overview of the Honors appears here, supplemented by some conversations from the red carpet.
