Michelle Yeoh to Receive Kering’s Women in Motion Award at Cannes Film Festival

After winning an Oscar for “Everything, Everywhere, All at Once,” Michelle Yeoh will be honored at this year’s Cannes Film Festival by Kering, which will give her the 2023 Women In Motion Award.

The ceremony will take place at the Women In Motion dinner in Cannes, which is a fancy event to honor women in film. Yeoh was selected as this year’s honoree by Thierry Frémaux, the director of the Cannes Film Festival, François-Henri Pinault, the chairman and CEO of Kering, and Iris Knobloch, the new president of the festival.

The dinner is part of the Women in Motion program, which was started in 2015 at the Festival to show how creative and important women are in the arts and culture world.

Yeoh was born in Malaysia. She is now a well-known actor and producer who is known for playing strong, complicated women on screen. She has also fought against gender and age stereotypes in the movie business. She just became the first Asian actor to win an Oscar in this category for her multifaceted performance in “Everything, Everywhere, All at Once.” She also won a SAG award and a Golden Globe.

Yeoh’s acceptance speech, which was one of the best parts of the Oscars, talked about things like diversity, racism, and ageism.

Viola Davis, Gong Li, Susan Sarandon, Jane Fonda, Geena Davis, Isabelle Huppert, Patty Jenkins, and Salma Hayek have all been honored by Women in Motion in the past.
