Michigan’s only professional tennis event kicks off in Midland


MIDLAND, Mich.— Each year, more than 4,000 children and young adults learn and grow from The Dow Tennis Classic’s outreach programs.

The Dow Tennis Classic began on October 30th and will run through November 5th at the Greater Midland Tennis Center on Wackerly St.

The tennis classic has five outreach programs for children and young adults.

The outreach programs include:

  • Pros to the Schools/ School to the Matches: Touring pros go to local schools and invite school groups to come to the Dow Tennis Classic.
  • “Think Smart. Dream Big”: At-risk youth from area alternative high schools enjoy a special day designed just for them at the Dow Tennis Classic.
  • High School Play Day: Offers high school teams an opportunity to bring their students out to train with touring pros, hear from a professional athletic trainer, and enjoy a clinic on strength and flexibility.
  • Kids’ Fun Day!: Dow teaching staff offers an event which draws children from across the community to experience tennis in an unique way.
  • High School/Collegiate Educational Opportunities: Three hundred area students gain real world experience through the Dow Tennis Class.
