Minnesota Latino mental health provider honored by NAMI

— Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio received the Provider of the Year Award on Nov. 4 at the National Alliance on Mental Illness Minnesota annual conference in St. Paul, The award recognizes an organization that provides high-quality mental health services.

CLUES is Minnesota’s largest Latino-led nonprofit organization that provides mental health and substance use disorder treatment. The group operates from St. Paul, Minneapolis, Willmar and Austin.

“What really stands out for CLUES is their approach — which really addresses the social determinants of health — looking at employment, food, and housing, promoting culture, and helping people find their voice,” MAI Minnesota executive director Sue Abderholden said in a news release.

CLUES provides culturally specific mental health services to the community in English and Spanish and has recently begun work to become a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic.

NAMI Minnesota is a nonprofit organization that works to improve the lives of children and adults with mental illnesses and their families.
