Mission Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part One Grosses $235 Million

“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” Tom Cruise’s most recent action-packed movie, is making a big splash around the world. The movie has made an amazing $155 million from 70 markets, which shows how popular it is around the world.

“Mission: Impossible” has been a big hit and has made an estimated $80 million in the U.S., giving it a total of $235 million in its first five days of release around the world. This is a big deal, especially since this is the seventh movie in a long-running action series that has been going on for 27 years. A big part of the movie’s success was that it was shown on Imax screens, which brought in $25 million, including a new record of $14 million from foreign markets.

Even though “Dead Reckoning Part One” did well, it cost a lot to make. Paramount and Skydance put $300 million into the movie. This includes the costs of COVID-related delays and safety steps for the pandemic era. So, for the movie to make money in theaters, it must continue to appeal to people around the world, even though other highly anticipated movies like “Oppenheimer” by Christopher Nolan and “Barbie” by Greta Gerwig are coming out on July 21.

The good news is that past “Mission: Impossible” movies have shown a remarkable ability to do better at the box office than their modest opening weekends. For example, “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” opened in the U.S. with $61 million and ended up making $791 million worldwide, which was a series record. Also, “Mission” movies usually sell about 70% of their tickets outside of the United States. This helps make up for any problems at the local box office, where “Dead Reckoning” is doing worse than expected.
