Residents in the Highlands have been warned not to feed the monkey that has escaped from a wildlife park and remains on the loose.
A Japanese macaque is yet to be found after escaping from the Highland Wildlife Park in Kincraig on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) confirmed that zoo keepers are continuing to patrol the village on Monday and hope to return him to the wildlife park.
As the search continues, members of the public have been urged not to approach the animal and instead contact the zoological society with any information.
A number of videos have been shared on social media featuring the monkey, one of which shows him enjoying a snack on a bird feeder.
Darren McGarry, head of living collections at RZSS, has asked the public to bring in any food that is kept outside.
The RZSS spokesperson said that monkey is not a threat to the public but advised people not to approach him.
“We are asking anyone who spots him to please call 07933928377 or email [email protected] with information.
“Although we don’t expect the monkey to be a threat to the public or pet animals, he should not be approached,” Mr McGarry said.
“We are doing everything we can to locate the macaque and are in talks with a drone company to help in this process.
“Locals are being encouraged to bring in any food that is kept outside, such as food waste bins and bird feeders to encourage the monkey to return to the park once he is hungry.”
