Montgomery Museum showcases miniature art, mental health program

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – The Montgomery Museum of Art & History is showcasing fun miniature art and bringing back a popular program this spring.

Miniature Artist Blake Gore and the museum’s Emerging Leaders Advisory Board Co-Chair Alan Waters joined Here @ Home to encourage people to visit the museum this season.

Visitors can see Gore’s work on display now in the “Creativity Enclosed: Reusing Historic Safe Deposit Boxes” exhibit.

People interested can use the exhibit as inspiration for their own miniature art at an upcoming “Miniature Easel Workshop” led by Amanda Kelly on Saturday, April 27 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum.

The Art of Happiness program returns in May in honor of Mental Health Awareness month. It offers an interactive look at positive psychology and the role that art can play in general happiness.

There are other upcoming events at the museum including “The Heist of Montgomery Bank” which will be a live play Dungeons and Dragons event happening Saturday, April 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
