COLEBROOK — Local photographer and artist, Elizabeth (Bette) Guerin, is October’s Artist of the Month at Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook.
Describing her inspiration for the exhibit theme, Guerin said, “Monadnock Mountain (also called Mount Monadnock) in Lemington, Vt., can be seen almost everywhere from locations around Colebrook. At its highest point, the mountain is 3,148 ft. I have referred to it as my “weather rock” and have been dazzled by the beauty of the cloud formations and sunsets that I get to witness throughout the year. Since I was a child, I have felt a connection to the natural world through flowers, animals, trees, clouds, stars, sunsets and sunrises. The images in this exhibit are some of my favorites over the past couple of years that I have been fortunate enough to capture in that sliver of time before the sky drastically changes. The mountain has set the stage for some very dramatic scenes and a vast variation of clouds and colors. It seems I never tire of looking out each day to see the ever-changing view from the same vantage point. These images may evoke certain moods, but there’s no doubt that nature is an incredible artist, and if we take the time to look, we are fortunate enough to be its intrigued observer. I hope my work instills a renewed sense of wonder and appreciation of the natural world around us.”
