Morongo taps Mexican bands for Cinco De Mayo

Mexican recording stars Pancho Barraza, Codigo FN and Maximo Grado will add some spice to the Cinco De Mayo weekend fiesta at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa with concerts set for Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3.

“We’re gearing up for an unforgettable Cinco de Mayo celebration at Morongo with exciting promotions, live entertainment, and delicious food and drink specials,” said Amy Hunstock, Morongo’s vice president of marketing. “From a Mariachi band strolling the casino floor to concerts on back-to-back nights, Morongo’s Cinco De Mayo fiesta promises to deliver the good times.”

Singer-songwriter Pancho Barraza continues to thrill fans with songs about his life, love, and upbringing in Sinaloa, Mexico. As one of the most popular and prolific Regional Mexican music artists, Barraza’s 2002 compilation of love songs, “Las Románticas de Pancho Barraza,” reached No. 12 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart. In 2005, he scored a Top 5 radio hit with “Y Las Mariposa,” and his hits “Por Que?” and “La Fuerza del Amor” reached the Top 10 of Billboard’s Mexico Airplay chart in 2020.

Tickets for the Pancho Barraza concert on Friday, May 2 are available from Ticketmaster, with prices starting at $69. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m.

Regional Mexicano group Codigo FN started out as a local party band in Tamarindo, Sinaloa, in 2008. Their signature song, “Me Gustas Mucho,” was a breakthrough hit in the US, landing at No. 2 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart. By 2014, they had become Mexican radio staples on both sides of the border and earned a Billboard Latin Music Awards nomination for New Artist of the Year.

Maximo Grado is a regional Mexican group from Culiacan, Sinaloa known for playing danceable corridos almost exclusively — with a few choice rancheras in the mix. With songs focused on family and country life, audiences often know every word to their lyrics and sing along at their concerts — which the band actively encourages.

Tickets for the joint concert on Saturday, May 3 can be purchased through Ticketmaster, with prices starting at $49. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m.
