A motorcyclist died on Thanksgiving after crashing into a car on Johnstown Road (U.S. 62) in Plain Township, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities had not been able to notify family of the motorcyclist as of late Friday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said, and did not expect to announce identification until Monday.
The crash was reported shortly after 6:10 p.m. Thursday when a Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling northbound in the 11000 block of Johnstown Road crossed the centerline north of East Walnut Street. The motorcyclist crashed into a southbound Toyota Corolla, causing one of the wheels of the motorcycle to break off and strike a Buick LaCrosse, the sheriff’s office said.
The motorcyclist was transported in life-threatening condition to Mount Carmel East Hospital, where they were pronounced dead at 7:02 p.m. Thursday.
No serious injuries were reported among occupants of the two cars involved in the crash, which remains under investigation.
