Mountainfilm on Tour to screen at SVAC Feb. 1

MANCHESTER — Mountainfilm on Tour brings a selection of culturally rich, adventure-packed and incredibly inspiring documentary films curated from the Mountainfilm festival in Telluride, Colorado. The tour will visit Manchester, VT at Southern Vermont Arts Center on February 1, 2025 with films that explore themes connected to Mountainfilm’s mission of using the power of film, art and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world.

Mountainfilm on Tour is hosted annually by Christopher Hanson of Hanson Media House, in partnership with Southern Vermont Arts Center. Hanson is a three time Emmy Award winning director and producer with the feature films “Scrapple,” and “Widespread Panic’s The Earth Will Swallow You” to his credit. Hanson’s TV credits include the Winter X Games, Winter and Summer Dew Tour, The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Ice Road Truckers, and Chicken Soup for the Soul’s Hidden Heroes.

Hanson is a recent transplant to Dorset, VT and a Mountainfilm alum himself.

“After my film “Scrapple” premiered at Mountainfilm, I fell in love with the festival. This is the second annual Mountainfilm in Manchester and I am confident that the community will love the films we bring every year,” Hanson said. “Manchester has that old school ski-town vibe, and Mountainfilm caters to that mindset and energy.”

Hanson has teamed up with local organizations and companies to help raise awareness about global issues on a local level. The 2025 local sponsors include Bromley Outing Club, Heart of the Village Yoga, Body Lab Training, Orvis, r.k. MILES, and Union Underground.

The show kicks off on Saturday, February 1 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for Mountainfilm on Tour are available online at svac.org and in person at Southern Vermont Arts Center. The cost for the show is $15 for SVAC members, $20 for non-members, and $10 for students. The doors and cash bar will open one hour prior to the show at 6 p.m.
