Mullaney, Heath and Turner Tabbed as 2023-24 Women’s Basketball Captains


CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lola Mullaney, Kennedy Heath, and Harmoni Turner will serve as the 2023-24 Harvard women’s basketball captains, Carrie Moore, The Kathy Delaney-Smith Head Coach for Harvard Women’s Basketball, announced today. 
 
Mullaney, one of the two Crimson seniors, has been a three-year starter for the squad, appearing in 83 games throughout her career.  In her three years so far with the Crimson, Mullaney has accumulated 1,165 points, 284 rebounds, 101 assists, and 77 steals.  Entering her senior season, Mullaney sits at 16th on the all-time scorers list (1,165) and third all-time in three-point field goals made (218).   The Manasquan, New Jersey native has received All-Ivy accolades in each of her three seasons, receiving honorable mention distinction in her first year and second team each of the last two seasons. 
 
Heath, the final Crimson senior, has been a four-year member and two-time letterwinner of Harvard women’s basketball, concentrating in psychology.  Not competing their first-year due to COVID, Heath made their collegiate debut in 2021-22 and helped the Crimson to a historic postseason run in 2022-23 in the Ivy League Tournament and WNIT.  Appearing in the teams opening round WNIT win over Towson, Heath contributed to the Crimson historic 103-point performance.  The Cary, North Carolina native has been a constant leader for the Crimson on and off the basketball court, bringing energy to all aspects of the team. 
 
Turner, a junior on the squad, has had a star-studded career with the Crimson so far.  The Mansfield, Texas native earned Ivy League Rookie of the Year in her first year on campus as well Second-Team All-Ivy distinction.  Last year, Turner earned Ivy League Player of the Week on three separate occasions, ultimately landing the then sophomore First-Team All-Ivy distinctions at the conclusion of the season.  The junior has appeared in 58 games for the Crimson, while accumulating a total of 934 points, 368 rebounds, 208 assists, and 138 steals. 
 
The trio will lead a promising 2023-24 squad that is coming off of a historic season which saw the Crimson with a 20-12 record, an Ivy League Tournament Championship appearance, and a WNIT run to the Great 8.  The team will make its season debut on Monday, November 6 at 6:00 p.m. against No. 14 University of Maryland.  The contest will be streamed on BIG+.
