Multimedia artist, painter to give artist talks at UCD

Marie Lorenz — a multimedia artist who uses printmaking, sculpture and filmmaking in her work — and Byron Kim — a painter whose utilizes languages of formal abstraction, observational paintings, and conceptual art — will give talks as part of The California Studio: Manetti Shrem Artist Residencies in the Maria Manetti Shrem Art Studio Program at UC Davis. Lorenz will speak on April 10 and Kim on April 24.

Lorenz’s work is rooted in the exploration and narrative of New York’s waterfronts. Combining psycho-geographic exploration with highly crafted, material forms, Lorenz uses boats to create an uncertain space and bring about a heightened awareness of place.
