Alexandra Whittingham will be one of the musicians appearing in Waterford in the New Year

Music lovers in County Waterford are in for a real treat early in the New Year when Music Network will be bringing some formidable acts to the Déíse county.

The Edmund Rice Chapel in Waterford provided the venue for an intimate show featuring Anna Dennis, Jonas Nordberg and Liam Byrne recently in an event that was also presented by Music Network.

However, a spokesperson told the Waterford News & Star, that some of the artists set to stop off in Waterford as part of their spring tour schedules in the New Year include some of the world’s foremost musicians.

Noa Wildschut (violin), Pablo Barragán (clarinet) and Amadeus Wiesensee (piano) will perform in Waterford in March.

That performance will be followed by a duo of young exciting artists currently taking the classical world storm.

Trumpeter, Matilda Lloyd and Alexandra Whittingham, on guitar, will perform some of the music of Manuel de Falla, in April, while in June leading jazz saxophonist Linda Fredriksson will be performing their album, ‘Juniper’.

They are just some of the musicians local fans can look forward to witnessing in the New Year.
