NASA says ‘Planet Parade’ on view all month, Elkins Nutrition to host Observation Night on Jan 21

According to NASA, “four bright planets” will be visible each evening this month which forms a “planet parade”. A planet parade is when several of our solar system’s planets are visible in the night sky at the same time.

“Also look for a close approach of Venus and Saturn, Mars occulted by the Moon, and meteors!” their website says.

To celebrate, Elkins Nutrition in Elkins Park will host a Planet Parade Observation Night on Tuesday, January 21 at 6:00pm.

Owner Hector Ybe is encouraging attendees to bring their own telescopes. The rain date will be Saturday, January 25.

“It looks like we are going to have a great turnout so I included some of the businesses in the area. Every participating business will have their own observation station and telescope with a planet assigned for the view that can help us to focus in one specific planet,” Ybe told Glenside Local.
