Natalie Portman and Britney Spears shared their first acting role.
The Oscar winner dropped the beans this week, revealing an unexpected link as understudies for child star Laura Bell Bundy in the Off-Broadway musical Ruthless back in 1992.
Portman revealed on LIVE with Kelly and Mark that “Britney was Laura’s first understudy, and then when Britney left to do the Mickey Mouse Club or whatever, I was the understudy.”
Despite the fact that she took over for the pop sensation, the two never met, but Portman revealed, “We actually didn’t meet, but we, like, knew of each other. Like I knew I was taking over for her.”
While Britney rose to prominence on the Mickey Mouse Club with Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, and Christina Aguilera for two seasons, Natalie made her mark with critical praise at the age of 13 in the action-thriller Léon (1994).
Natalie, now an Oscar-winning actress with over 70 films to her credit, graced the LIVE stage to discuss her latest movie, May December.
In the film, she plays Elizabeth Berry, a figure inspired by the infamous Mary Kay Letourneau.
Berry’s relationship with her husband, represented by Charles, which began when she was a minor, is explored throughout the plot.
May December, which premiered in theaters in November and is now accessible on Netflix, tackles a riveting narrative inspired by true events.
