A Return to Realism

The first event, A Return to Realism with Visual Artist Arnon Moscona will take place on Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. at 4287 Route 203.

Enjoy an open and stimulating conversation with Moscona when he shares a slide presentation of his work and displays some of his mesmerizing paintings. During the program, Moscona will discuss how he brings the humanity of what he sees to life by approaching contemporary subjects in a classical tradition.

Moscona was born in 1963. He studied applied mathematics at Tel Aviv University, Israel and graduated in 1990. He has been working as a software engineer in a variety of companies.

His artistic journey started at an early age. Having the drive to draw, paint, and create actively encouraged by his mother, he registered for some night art and graphic design classes during high school. At the time, he produced album covers and some works on paper – which included drawings and works in India ink.

After a long pause due to a busy young life, he returned to the visual arts in the mid-90s and produced a fair number of digital art pieces — digital paintings, photographs, and photo manipulation. In the mid 2000’s, he continued his studies in art, pursuing oil painting and drawing in charcoal and graphite. In 2010, he enrolled at BACAA (Bay Area Classical Art Atelier). At BACAA, he studied under the school’s founder Linda Dulaney, who in turn studied under Tony Ryder, Ted Seth Jacobs and Michael Grimaldi. Later, still at BACAA, he studied for six years under Noah Buchanan. While there, he delved deeply into drawing and painting, especially using Italian high renaissance techniques as well as some French academy techniques with a focus on the human form — in portraits and the full figure.

Today, his work builds on his classical art education, and he continues to explore and depict the human spirit and inner world primarily through portraits.

The second event, Call Me on Video, Part of the library’s TechTalk series, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. at 4287 Route 203.

Forbes is a senior delivery specialist on the Americas Learning and Development team at Ernst & Young LLP (EY), where she project manages planning, delivery and reporting for in-person, virtual and hybrid technical trainings. She has been with EY’s New York office for over 20 years, is a top-tier facilitator and experienced virtual producer. Catherine is passionate about language, reading and communication. She and her husband Pitsch reside in Chatham Center.
