In a recent Facebook post, the Riverside Farmers Market shared the difficult news that Nevada’s WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) has been defunded for the 2025 season.
The post says the program, which helped families access fresh, healthy food at local markets, has been described as a crucial lifeline—alongside others like SNAP, EBT, and SFNP—for many in the community.
Market organizers emphasized the personal impact of the cut, noting they see and serve these families every week.
Despite the setback, the market reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the community.
Additionally, they say that due to the Ninja Run event, they will have special market hours this Sunday; they will be from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m.
