Russell Brand has been accused of rape, assault, and mental abuse between 2006 and 2013. He has also been accused of stalking and harassment. This is the second time that a criminal investigation has been opened because of these accusations.
Thames Valley police are looking into new claims made by a woman who called them two weeks ago with “new information” about “harassment and stalking” about the 48-year-old comedian, who has denied all of the accusations.
In a statement, the officials didn’t name Brand but said, “Thames Valley police in the past two weeks received new information in relation to the harassment and stalking allegations dating back to 2018. This information is being investigated. As such, it would be inappropriate to comment on an ongoing investigation.”
Between 2018 and 2022, the accused told police many times about her claims, but nothing more was done. In 2017, Brand had also said that the woman was making him feel uncomfortable.
On the other hand, the Metropolitan police said they were looking into a number of sexual offense claims in London and “elsewhere in the country.”
The Met said last week that the crimes had all happened a long time ago and that officers would help all the women who had made claims by putting them in touch with experts.
One of the original accusations was that Brand attacked one of the women when she was 16 and in school, and another was that he raped her while she was against a wall in his Los Angeles house.
