New Amazon $11 billion project will be an artificial intelligence data center

After talking with St. Joseph County Officials, the picture is clearer for what the new Amazon Data Control Center will entail.

Officials made it clear the $11 billion project will not be a traditional data center, but rather artificial intelligence data centers.

The computers found inside will be some of the most high-tech in the world, according to the county’s Executive Director of Economic Development.

“There’s going to be a lot of a lot of data that will flow of through these areas and again because it’s artificial intelligence machine learning a lot of learning so they’ll be analytics jobs they’ll be tech jobs that really don’t exist in a data center space that we have here in the community today,” said Bill Schalliol, St. Joseph County Economic Development Director.

Officials say there will be operational buildings on the campus’ north side by this year.
