AUGUSTA, Ga. (WFXG) — A major entertainment upgrade is underway in downtown Augusta, where construction crews are preparing the site for a new state-of-the-art arena set to replace the aging James Brown Arena.

The facility is designed to host larger events, improve guest experience, and generate economic growth in the Central Savannah River Area. Vertical construction is expected to begin later this year, with developers projecting a spring 2027 completion.
