New London Man Steals Car, Engages Police In Chase: Reports

NEW LONDON, CT — A New London man driving an SUV reported stolen out of Rhode Island was charged after engaging police in a chase, WTNH News-8 reported.

Lindsey Brown, 32, was charged with engaging police in pursuit, evading, failure to drive in proper lane, failure to obey stop sign, larceny of motor vehicle, and interfering with officer/resisting.

The charges are related to a May 22 pursuit when state troopers spotted a 199 Isuzu NPR loaded with lobster cages reported stolen out of Rhode Island on the Gold Star Bridge, according to WFSB 3-TV.

The Isuzu fit the description of a car that evaded two accidents earlier that day.

Police attempted to stop the car but Brown drove away, WTNH News-8 reported. He then crashed into parked cars and ran away on foot before being caught.

He was held on $50,000 bond and scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Thursday.
