THE NEW METRO TECH CENTER ON SOUTH BRYANT, NEAR SOUTHEAST 44TH IN OKC, WILL HOUSE AN AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY CENTER COMPLETE WITH SHOP BAYS AND CLASSROOMS WHERE STUDENTS CAN GET HANDS ON EXPERIENCE TO BECOME SERVICE TECHNICIANS AND COLLISION REPAIR SPECIALISTS. THERE’S ALSO THE INDUSTRIAL TECH CENTER FOR PEOPLE TO LEARN THE TRADES LIKE CONSTRUCTION, WELDING AND ELECTRICAL WORK. THIS FACILITY WILL ALSO HOUSE A HIGH SCHOOL AEROSPACE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM. THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING CENTER WILL OFFER FIREARM TRAINING AND CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES AND THERE’S THE PUBLIC SAFETY ACADEMY CENTER, WHERE STUDENTS WILL GET FIRSTRILLIONESPONDER TRAINING. THAT STUFF IS HUGE. WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT TRAINING, WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND PREPARING PEOPLE FOR SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE. AND THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS. There is also the industrial technology center for people to learn trades like construction, welding and electric work. This facility will house a high school aerospace maintenance program. The law enforcement training center will offer firearm training and continuing education or local law enforcement agencies. There is also a public safety academy, where students will get first responder training. “That stuff is huge when you talk about training, workforce development and preparing people for success in the future. That is exactly what our community needs,” said Oklahoma County Sheriff Tommie Johnson III.
