New Study: Bachelorette Bash Best In Austin, San Francisco

Austin and San Francisco are the best U.S. cities for an unforgettable bachelor or bachelorette trip, a new study says.

The study by travel insurance company InsureMyTrip analyzed 54 cities and evaluated them based on eight factors: average hotel cost, number of Airbnbs with more than five bedrooms, number of happy hours, bar ratings, restaurant ratings, number of group activities, annual rainfall and safety.

Austin ranks No. 1, the study says, because of an abundance of accommodation options for large groups, plenty of social activities and great options for food and drinks. The average cost of a hotel is $194 per night — one of the most affordable options in the study.

San Franciso ranks second, receiving the best score of all cities for highly rated bars and restaurants. The study also found that San Francisco has 240 establishments with happy hours and lists 171 group activities.

Three other California cities — San Diego, Los Angeles and Sacramento — rank in the top 10 for bachelor or bachelorette trips. No. 3 San Diego scored highly for “amazing beaches and parks,” number of happy hours, well-reviewed bars and restaurants and safety.

“Destination bachelor and bachelorette celebrations are always a fun time,” says Sarah Webber, InsureMyTrip’s marketing director. “But it’s not fun to figure where to go. This study does the work for you to ensure you’re heading out on a memory-making trip stress-free.”

Long Beach on Long Island has the lowest ranking in the study because of lack of activities and accommodations. Florida’s Port Charlotte in Florida has the second-lowest ranking because of limited group activities and high level of annual rainfall.

Here are the study’s top 10 cities for a bachelor or bachelorette trip:

  1. Austin
  2. San Francisco
  3. San Diego
  4. New York
  5. Denver
  6. Philadelphia
  7. Chicago
  8. Los Angeles
  9. Seattle
  10. Sacramento
