New Waukee music venue opens its doors to public for first time


A new music hall opened its doors to the public for the first time Tuesday night.Vibrant Music Hall hosted a community party to showcase the new event space in Waukee. Several local artists and groups were at the event to perform. All proceeds from Tuesday night’s ticket sales went to local arts and nonprofit organizations. A spokesperson for Live Nation said they raised $14,270 from ticket sales for Tuesday’s event. Each of the five nonprofit organizations will receive $2,854. People explored everything the new space has to offer: a large stage, multiple bars and enough seating to host a crowd of 3,300. The venue is the first in the state to be owned by Live Nation.General manager Haleigh Biancalana said she hopes the music hall will strike a chord with music lovers and performers alike.”Everything here is top of the line,” Biancalana said. “And it’s meant to be from the experience, from the behind the stage to the front of the stage. So, all the guests are getting the top experience in music that we can have to offer around us, as well as the artists behind the stage.”Vibrant Music Hall is part of a new entertainment district development in Waukee called KeeTown Loop. It’s designed to keep up with the growing population of Waukee. According to economic development director Jennifer Brown, the city of Waukee grew from 24,000 people to 29,000 in the past three years. “We’re pretty excited about that growth,” Brown said. “We like to say we grow by about six to seven residents per day.”Brown says the space will boost population and economic growth in the years ahead. “They’re going to bring in about 350,000 visitors annually, about 140 events as well,” Brown said. “We know that we anticipate about at least a $20 million economic impact annually as well.”The venue will officially open on Nov. 5 when it hosts its first concert. Tickets for rock band NEEDTOBREATHE’s performance are already on sale. A complete list of scheduled concerts can be found on the venue’s website.
