New ‘Wicked’ movie dolls mistakenly link to adult entertainment site on packaging

UNDATED (WKRC) – In a case of apparent digital mistaken identity, an adult entertainment website was incorrectly featured on the packaging of dolls promoting the new Ariana Grande film, “Wicked”.

Mattel owns massive toy brands like Barbie, Hot Wheels, and American Girl Dolls, and so it was no surprise when they released a line of dolls to promote the widely-anticipated film adaptation of the Broadway musical “Wicked” starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.

Although the dolls share an impressive likeness with the actresses they’re based on and include most of the expected features from a Barbie-style doll, some keen-eyed customers noticed an alarming error on the package.

On the back of the box, just below the copyright information, Mattel attempted to include the movie’s website, www.WickedMovie.com.

Unfortunately, it seems one of the designers did not get the memo about the website’s name, since they instead incorrectly listed the movie’s website as www.Wicked.com.

Although it seems like an easy and harmless mistake to make, some posters on social media reported that the printed website address actually leads to an adult entertainment website, quite antithetical to the audience of the child-friendly doll.

Luckily this error seems to be exclusive to this line of dolls, since other “Wicked” products, like the Lego set, have the correct website on the packaging.

“Wicked” is set to release on Nov. 22.
