The next edition of “Newsmakers” on KGCS-TV will focus on Suicide and Mental Health Awareness Month, which is in October.

Heather Bullock, lead counselor at Missouri Southern State University, will share facts about the prevalence of anxiety and other mental health concerns among college students. Maya Greenquist, the Bandana Project president, and the group’s adviser, Cori Reid, will explain the history of the group and what it entails. Several members of the organization will share their own personal experiences with mental health stressors. Debbie Fort will explain another student-led effort called Real About Wellbeing, a club designed to give students a safe space to talk.

“Newsmakers” will air at 5 and 9 p.m. nightly next week.

KGCS-TV programming can be seen on Channel 21 and on regional cable television systems. The station operates as a service of the communication department at Missouri Southern.
