In recognition of America Recycles Day, a tech disposal group is making sure your old technology gets safely disposed of!A group called Next Tech offered a drop-off location at the Renaissance Wednesday for people to dispose of e-waste.Director of business development Beth Zito says they offer drop-offs every so often because e-waste can contain personal data on old laptops, or not disposing of it properly can become a hazard to the environment. “We have things that go back to when I was programming at school, which is a really a long time ago. So it’s fun to see some of the dinosaurs that they bring in,” said Zito. “So they bring in things that literally have been sitting in their attic for decades and as well as newer devices that, you know, within the last several years. Technology develop so quickly it’s like a wave coming toward us and it replays so quickly that there’s just nothing to do with it for them,” said Zito. Some of the things we saw being dropped off were old printers, fax machines, televisions, and monitors. A company truck was on site to take away those items at no charge.
