The Nicki Minaj saga in Amsterdam lasted just a few hours, but its aftermath is not over. In its most recent episode, the rapper issued a statement apologizing to her fans for canceling one of her performances and threatening to sue the Dutch authorities for her arrest.
On Saturday afternoon, Minaj uploaded a series of videos to her social media accounts, detailing her arrest at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on suspicion that she was “exporting soft drugs.” The singer confirmed that they found marijuana in her luggage.
Minaj was released six hours later, after posting bail of 350 euros ($380, approximately), but it was too late to make it to her performance in Manchester, England. The concert venue tried to delay the start time as much as possible, but, in the end, the performance could not take place that same day.
Nicki’s apologies
In a post on her X, formerly Twitter, account, the “Barbie World”singer asked, “Please please accept my deepest & most sincere apologies.” She explained that she had just arrived at her hotel in England and was not able to make the presentation.
She thanked all of her fans for praying for her. “May you be blessed beyond your imagination,” she expressed.
In the statement, the 41-year-old singer said that Dutch authorities “succeeded at their plan to not let me get on that stage tonight. I succeeded @ getting to the root of it all by recording them & posting everything in real-time.”
Will Nicki Minaj sue the authorities?
“They sure did know exactly how to hurt me today, but this too, shall pass,” Minaj said of the arrest and stated, “They’ve been doing this over & over & over & over & over again & I’ve trying to don’t discuss it.”
Finally, she assured “I have sooooooo much video evidence. You wouldn’t believe it if I told you. I’ll have the lawyers & GOD take it from here tho,” although she did not clarify what the reason for the lawsuit would be.
