Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman were just teenagers when they met for the first time at an audition for an “’80s swimsuit commercial,” and while neither of them ended up booking the job, they both went on to enjoy glittering acting careers — as well as a decadeslong friendship.

And this level of friendship is obviously not without loyalty, with it now being revealed that Nicole checked in with Naomi before accepting a role as Naomi’s ex Liev Schreiber’s onscreen wife in the new Netflix limited series The Perfect Couple.

Still, Nicole was sure to put girl code above all else when the role came her way, and it was actually Liev who exposed this during a joint interview with Entertainment Tonight promoting the show.

And Naomi also commented on this in an interview with Entertainment Weekly at the Toronto International Film Festival.
