NORTHBROOK, IL — Since 2022, New Village Gastro Pub & Karaoke has been serving modern takes on traditional Korean dishes at 3566 Milwaukee Ave. Diners at the restaurant, opened by James Shin and partner, Brian Lee, have given it rave reviews, especially on Yelp, where it currently has a rating of 4.8 out of 5.
With that, the online publisher of crowd-sourced reviews about businesses recently named New Village to its Top 100 US Restaurants 2024 list.
According to Yelp, to determine the list, its data science team analyzed user submissions by ratings, number of reviews, and volume of submissions, and finalized the rankings with the “expertise of our community managers.”
Here’s what Yelp said about New Village, ranking it at No. 74 on the list:
“Customers are transported to a pocha (a Korean street food stall) upon entering this gastropub, inconspicuously tucked into a strip mall. Modern takes on traditional Korean dishes abound, including Sea Snail and Squid Muchim (sea snails and vegetables in a sweet and spicy sauce, served with squid and noodles), Korean Market Style Chicken (a whole deep-fried chicken), and Army Stew, a Korean-inspired dish made with ham and sausages, spicy kimchi, ramen noodles, and tofu in a savory broth.”
