Director James Gunn has pumped up anticipation for the third and final Guardians of the Galaxy film by saying, “not a second is wasted” in the film’s running time.
The director responded on Twitter to a fan who questioned whether the rumored runtime of two hours and 29 minutes was accurate “It is approximately that long, although this is not yet precise. I guarantee that not a single second is wasted.”
He proceeded: “There is no fat present. It was necessary to experience the full arc of each major Guardians character, not only for this film but also for the entire Guardians trilogy (or, I should say, the trilogy plus).”
Gunn clarifies that there will be no “Part IV,” but rather, the cast will appear in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.
The release date for Guardians 3 is May 5, 2023.
