Nude Nite, Grand Prix, Sausage Fest, Auto Show: FL Weekend Events


TAMPA BAY, FL — Looking for something fun to do this weekend? There’s something for every interest — IndyCar racing, plant festivals and sales, Nude Nite, a doo wop concert, a sausage festival.

Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg

Between 100,000 and 150,000 Indycar fans will visit downtown St. Petersburg this weekend for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Racing takes place Friday, 7:55 a.m. to 6:35 p.m.; Saturday, 7:55 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Gasparilla Charity Horse Show

The Gasparilla Charity Horse Show takes place at the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center at Florida State Fairgrounds through Saturday. Classes included ASB, Morgans, Hackney, Roadster, Equitation, Open and Academy. Free for spectators.

Nude Nite St. Pete

This national art exhibit takes place Friday and Saturday, 6 p.m. to midnight, at the 20,000-square-foot Coastal Creative venue in St. Petersburg. The event features more than 150 of the best figurative works from artists across the U.S., immersive experiences, live entertainment and a DJ.

Spring Exhibition Opening Party

Sarasota Art Museum hosts its spring exhibition opening party Friday, 7:30 p.m. The event celebrates the museum’s newest exhibition, “Impact: Contemporary Artists at the Hermitage Artist Retreat,” before it opens to the general public.

Spring Obsession

The Lakeland Rotary Club hosts its 21st annual Spring Obsession event Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Downtown Lakeland’s Munn Park. There will be 60+ vendors selling plants, garden art, food and more. Proceeds will benefit Partners in Education and Southwest Elementary and Middle School in Lakeland.

Greenfest

The Tampa Garden Club, 2629 Bayshore Blvd., hosts its annual Greenfest Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendors on the lawn will sell plants, garden tools, supplies and garden art. The UF-IFAS Extension service will also be at the event.

Palmetto Heritage Festival

The annual Palmetto Heritage Festival takes place Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Palmetto Historical Park & Manatee County Agricultural Museum. The free event hosts an open house of the park and activities for the whole family. There will also be An Original Florida Highwaymen Art Show & Sale.

Auto Show

St. Pete’s Imagine Museum hosts its first annual Auto Show Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The show includes cars on display, family activities, food vendors and more.

Sausage Fest

The German American Society in Pinellas Parkhosts its Sausage FestSaturday, kicking off at 11 a.m. There will be sausages from around the world for sale, tasty sides, dachshund races, a live DJ, local vendors and family activities.

Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival

The 10th annual Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival takes place Saturday, starting at noon, at Tampa’s Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. Admission comes with a souvenir glass for all-you-can taste beer and bourbon samples. There will also be seminars with master distillers, brewmasters and pitmasters; live music; and vendors.

Botanical Bash

Tampa Bay Watch in Tierra Verde hosts its inaugural Botanical Bash Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m. Activities include a native plant swap and sale, educational resources and exhibits, a plant scavenger hunt, DIY native wildflower seed bombs, and more.

Charity Quarter Auction

This fundraiser hosted by Positive Impact Events Sunday at Beacon Square Civic Center in Holiday will raise money for Silent Heart Doulas. Doors open at 1 p.m. There will be numerous vendors and a quarter auction.

Doo Wop Reunion XXII

The Duprees, Little Anthony & the Music, The Coasters and Joe Dee take the stage for the Doo Wop Reunion XXII Sunday, 5 p.m., at Clearwater’s Ruth Eckerd Hall.
