There is music of all types taking place at the beach in the days ahead. And while a comedy event that was going to take place this weekend is canceled, tickets are going on sale for a country concert at the same venue.
Ocean City announces big country music double bill coming
As mentioned in this column a few weeks ago, an appearance by comedy headliner Tracy Morgan that was scheduled to take place at the Ocean City Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Nov. 16, was canceled due to a scheduling conflict. A new date has not been announced, and ticket sales were being refunded at point of purchase.
The OC Performing Arts Center has some good news for country music fans, however. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, for a winter concert featuring co-headliners Lorrie Morgan and T. Graham Brown. The show is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, with ticket prices to be announced.

Reggae band that played Oceans Calling returning to Ocean City for show
Elsewhere in Ocean City, the Beach Barrels nightclub has a concert by Colorado reggae-rock band The Samples scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16 ($35). Seating is limited and will be first come, first served.
Doors will open at 7 p.m., with music to commence at 8 p.m. It will be a tad bit more intimate than when the group was in town a few months ago; it played to an estimated 55,000 people outside at the mammoth Oceans Calling festival at the Inlet Sept. 28.
Last but not least in OC, the Crawl Street Tavern is another hotspot with a full schedule of year-round concerts. It will present a free show by another reggae-rock group, New Jersey-based LNJ Sessions, at 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 15. Local rock act The Rogue Citizens will take the stage at 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, with admission also being free.

Listening Room continues to book great acoustic shows
In coastal Sussex County, the schedule at the Listening Booth is busier than ever. The concert hall on southbound Route 1 at Midway will present The Sugar Maples on Friday, Nov. 15 ($15 to $40).
The trio has a truly unique style, mixing Celtic music, folk, jazz and more. Local acoustic duo Terry & Tilly (both formerly of the group The Stims) will open the show at 7 p.m.
Looking ahead at the Listening Booth, singer Ashley Dark (from the Rehoboth Beach rock group Freshly Squeezed) has been added to the bill of a show taking place next month. She will open for national singer-songwriter Jill Sobule (“I Kissed A Girl,” “Supermodel”), at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 ($15 to $55). Sobule’s debut appearance there last year was an advance sellout.
