Officials submit application for additional funding for Bellefonte outdoor performing arts venue project

Plans for an outdoor concert venue in Centre County could be receiving another million-dollar funding boost from the state.

The organizers for the Stage at Talleyrand project in Bellefonte say plans are in the works for them to receive another state funding grant.

“We are raising money. We gave ourselves a May 1st cutoff. At that point, we’ll take stock of how much money we have and well build a stage with the funds we have, so we’re not locked into any final design yet.”

On Tuesday, the Centre County commissioners approved submitting an application to the state for a local share account grant, worth one million dollars, for the Stage at Talleyrand.

Local share money is statewide revenue from gambling.

One point one million dollars for the Stage project has been raised so far and there are other issues on the table.

A work session with Bellefonte Borough Council was recently rescheduled.

“They would like to change some of the items. So, there will be some discussions about that.”

Plans call for construction on the Stage to begin next spring with it being ready for the first show in October of 2024
