SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Recently, Change Healthcare, which operates Vermont’s Medicaid pharmacy claims system experienced a cyber security issue. Change Healthcare confirmed this issue impacts pharmacies and providers across Vermont, New England, and the rest of the country.

As of right now, Change Healthcare’s systems remain down, and the company has not provided a timeframe for full restoration of services. The Department of Vermont Health Access continues to ensure pharmacies have the resources and instructions they need to continue providing access to prescriptions for eligible Medicaid members.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience. we know that this is not an ideal situation and they’re so appreciative of all the work that our pharmacies are doing for the patients or members are showing in this time,” Alex McCracken of Department of Vermont Health Access said.

The department issued payments to pharmacies to ensure they are able to remain operational while the change healthcare system is down. The department is working closely with pharmacies to ensure their needs are met.
