Ohio State Highway Patrol investigating Paint Township fatal 2 car crash


PAINT TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WOIO) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Paint Township involving two cars.

Troopers were called to the scene around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Harrison Road and South Kansas Road.

Preliminary investigations show a silver Ford E-350 van traveling on Kansas Road failed to stop at the stop sign posted at the intersection, troopers say.

A blue Chevrolet Silverado traveling on Harrison road struck the Ford E-350 on the driver side, investigators say.

Troopers say the Silverado driver, 65-year-old Patrick Baldwin, was Life Flighted to Akron City Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Rex Beeler, 69, was driving the Ford E-350 and was transported to Wooster Community Hospital, according to officials.

Baldwin was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The crash is under investigation. Alcohol and drugs do not appear as factors involved in the crash, troopers say.
