OLEAN – Businesses looking to electrify transportation needs can sign up to learn more about electric vehicles, charging, and funding opportunities.
The Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce has scheduled its next Lunch and Learn event for noon Nov. 16, with “Plugging Into NY’s Future: EV Ownership & Charging Installation Incentives Explained.”
The topic is on the advantage of electric vehicle use and adding more charging stations to our community. This webinar will feature Adam Jester, owner of Bamboo Strategy Group. The lunch and learn will be held as a webinar with Jester but invite all to attend in person at the Chamber office with lunch served.
Jester will provide a concise overview of the grant incentives available specifically for New York businesses who install Electric Vehicle charging stations at their location.
State, federal and utility-based programs offer multiple ways to incentivise EVs and charging installations. For example, the Charge Ready NY 2.0 program from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority offers $2,000 per Level 2 charging port installed at a workplace or multi-unit dwelling location, plus an additional $500 if the site is within a disadvantaged community. Several Census tracts in the region — including tracts covering portions of Olean and Salamanca — are designated as disadvantaged communities. Additional programs with rebates, tax credits and assistance opportunities are also available.
Aside from the immediate revenue opportunity for host businesses, Jester said that offering EV charging is key to attract new visitors to the Olean area, more and more of whom drive EVs.
Additionally, Jester will demystify the world of EV ownership, breaking down the basics for everyone interested in making the switch to eco-friendly transportation. From understanding the different types of chargers, to an overview of the costs to purchase and charge EVs, attendees will gain valuable insights into the future of automotive technology.
The Series are free workshops conducted by local business experts, Chamber members, and associates of our Chamber partners. This is a workshop for the Lunch and Learn series at the Chamber, which will occur throughout the calendar year. The next one will be a focus on “Web 101” with Brian Kelly.
