
A Georgetown man is dead, the victim of a single-car crash early Sunday morning.
The SUV the man was driving ran off the eastbound side of Lewes-Georgetown Highway east of Fawn Lane at about 1:17 a.m., Delaware State Police said.
The vehicle hit a tree and burst into flames, and the driver, whose name is being withheld pending notification of his family, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lewes-Georgetown Highway was closed at the scene for about 4 hours after the crash, which is still under investigation by Troop 7’s Collision Reconstruction Unit.
