One killed in crash between train and car in south Wichita


WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Emergency services are responding to a crash between a car and a train in south Wichita that left one person dead on Saturday.

The call came in around 3:10 p.m. near the intersection of Wassall and Madison. Wichita police said the driver attempted to drive underneath the crossbars of the railroad.

The train sounded its horn, but didn’t have time to stop before the collision.

Firefighters extracted the person from the vehicle and performed lifesaving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said there were so signs of impairment.
