One man on the run after car prowl in Benton County


BENTON COUNTY, Wash.- According to a Facebook post made by Benton County Sheriff’s Office, on February 24 deputies were called to the Candy Mountain Trailhead after someone reported a car theft. 

The victim told BCSO that after finishing a hike on Candy Mountain they saw someone in a red pickup truck near their car. 

When the victim got to their car they found that their car had been broken into and a a bag with credit and debit cards were stolen. 

The victim was able to see that their card was being used at the Columbia Center Mall. 

BCSO deputies then found a red pickup truck in the parking lot that fit the victims description. 

When deputies approached the truck a man ran away from the pickup truck and the car drove off. 

The car stopped before leaving the parking lot and Deputies began to talk to the driver. Deputies saw the stolen item inside the truck and arrested the driver. 

According to BCSO identity of the man who ran away from the car is known. BCSO is seeking to change the man for his involvement in the theft.
